I’m Laura, and I make all the pieces at flat rat ceramics. I started out in 2022 with a ceramics course and a tiny corner of my dining room turned into a home studio. What began as a hobby has slowly grown into a side project I really love. The name “flat rat ceramics” is a little nod to the fact that I make everything from my flat, surrounded by the small rhythms of everyday life.

I love working with clay, there’s something about shaping it by hand, watching it change from soft earth into something lasting and useful. Most of my pieces are wheel-thrown, but I also handbuild some to play with different shapes and textures.

I mainly make functional pieces like mugs, cups, and the occasional vase. Every piece is a little different; organic, rustic, and full of character.

I hope flat rat ceramics can bring a little warmth and handmade charm into your daily life.
