Care instructions

Each piece from flat rat ceramics is handmade by me in small batches, using stoneware clay and food-safe glazes. Your piece is both microwave and dishwasher safe, though I recommend washing it by hand instead to help it stay at its very best.

One important note: ceramics can be sensitive to sudden temperature changes. For example, avoid taking your mug straight from the dishwasher while it’s still hot and immediately filling it with iced water. These quick temperature shifts can cause thermal shock, which may lead to cracking or breakage.

Because everything I make is shaped, glazed, and finished by hand, each piece has its own personality. The one you receive may look slightly different from the photos, with unique variations in color, shape, and size. I hope you’ll enjoy these differences, they are what make handmade pottery special.

I’m also committed to keeping things kind to the planet. You won’t find any unnecessary plastic here. Instead, I use packing peanuts made from cornstarch, which dissolve in water. It’s a small, thoughtful swap that helps reduce waste while still keeping your pottery safe and snug on its journey home to you.

If you ever have questions, curiosities, or just want to say hello, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to chat.
